Automation consultancy Syntora deploys Supabase webhooks to finally automate client onboarding—after years of doing it manually like cavemen

Parker Gawne, founder of Syntora, a small automation consultancy, has developed a system to automate client onboarding using Supabase Edge Functions and webhooks. Previously, onboarding a new client required 15-20 minutes of manual work, involving creating a record, setting up a folder structure, provisioning portal access, sending a welcome email, and logging everything. The new system triggers all five steps automatically when a proposal is signed, with zero clicks required after signature. The Edge Function receives a webhook, validates the payload, and runs the onboarding steps in sequence, logging every step in an activity log table. With this system, the onboarding process now takes approximately three seconds to complete, eliminating manual errors and reducing the time spent on onboarding. This automation solution is particularly significant for agencies and SaaS companies that regularly onboard clients, as it saves time and increases efficiency.
