DJI's RS 5 gimbal tracks pets and pitches flawlessly—too bad US availability is stuck in drone ban limbo
DJI has launched the RS 5 camera gimbal, a lightweight addition to its Ronin Series, weighing approximately three pounds with a maximum payload of nearly seven pounds. The RS 5 features enhanced intelligent subject tracking, allowing videographers to frame and follow subjects directly from a touchscreen, and can track objects such as pets, vehicles, and humans up to 10 meters away. The gimbal includes DJI's latest stabilization algorithm, enabling effortless camera movements, and can carry a range of mainstream mirrorless cameras and lens combinations. With up to 14 hours of use per charge, the RS 5 also offers a separate enhanced battery grip accessory for extended runtime. The standard pack costs around $680, while the combo pack, including the enhanced tracking module and other accessories, costs around $859. Although a US release date has not been announced, the RS 5 is a significant development in the video creation industry, offering advanced features and improved usability for videographers. DJI's launch of the RS 5 underscores the company's commitment to innovation in the field of camera stabilization technology.
