Homelab zealot arms TP-Link ER605 with GARP blasts against MITM phantoms, disables DPI to keep VPNs zipping like it's 2023

A comprehensive security configuration guide has been implemented for the TP-Link ER605 router to ensure the resilience of a Homelab setup. The configuration focuses on striking a balance between maximum security and high performance. Key features enabled include ARP Spoofing Defense and Send GARP packets to protect against "Man-in-the-Middle" attacks, as well as flood defense filters for TCP SYN, UDP, and ICMP to prevent Denial of Service attacks. Additionally, packet anomaly defense has been activated to block malicious packets and make the Homelab "invisible" to scanning tools. Notably, Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) has been disabled due to its potential to decrease performance, increase latency, and inefficiently handle encrypted traffic. This strategy prioritizes robust security at the transport and network layers while maintaining optimal hardware performance, allowing for full utilization of the internet link. By implementing these measures, the Homelab setup can effectively defend against various types of cyber threats.
