US Tariffs at 100%? Taiwan Forks $500B to Patch Semiconductor Supply Chain Stateside

The US and Taiwan have signed a $250 billion trade deal to boost domestic semiconductor production. Taiwanese businesses will invest at least $250 billion in US production capacity, with Taiwan's government providing $250 billion in credit guarantees. In exchange, Taiwan will receive limited 15% reciprocal tariffs. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick aims to bring 40% of Taiwan's semiconductor supply chain to the US, using tariffs as an incentive, saying "if they don’t build in America, the tariff’s likely to be 100 percent." Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company will expand in Arizona.
