Linux Commands Go the Way of the Dinosaur: 7 Relics You Should Stop Using Before You Get Fired

In a shocking turn of events, 7 Linux commands have been deemed obsolete, leaving many developers wondering how they'll survive without their trusty ifconfig and iwconfig. It turns out, these commands have been deprecated due to security vulnerabilities, a lack of ongoing maintenance, or the existence of newer, more feature-rich alternatives - who knew? The affected commands include ifconfig, which is being replaced by the ip command, and iwconfig, which is being supplanted by the iw command. Additionally, scp is being phased out in favor of rsync, egrep and fgrep are no longer needed thanks to the improved grep command, netstat is being replaced by the ss command, and route is being ditched for the ip route command. Don't worry, though - your Linux distribution probably still includes these outdated commands, but it's time to upgrade your terminal game and join the 21st century. With great power comes great responsibility, and using deprecated commands is just asking for a world of trouble - or at the very least, a stern talking-to from your sysadmin.
