Adobe backs off killing animate: Maintenance mode means bug fixes forever, but zero new features for salad fingers fans
Adobe has reversed its decision to discontinue Adobe Animate, announcing that the application will instead enter maintenance mode. The company stated in an FAQ that it has "no plans to discontinue or remove access" to the app, which will continue to receive ongoing security and bug fixes. Although new features will not be added, Animate will remain available for both new and existing users. The reversal comes after Adobe's original discontinuation announcement on Monday sparked frustration among creators, including David Firth, the animator behind the popular web series Salad Fingers. The decision to maintain Animate is significant for the animation and design industry, where the application remains a widely used tool. As of March 1st, Animate will continue to be supported, with Adobe committed to providing security updates and bug fixes to ensure the application remains stable and secure for its users.
