NetSuite to Devs: SOAP's Bubbly Era Ends in 2026—Time to REST Up or Rewrite Your Integrations!

Oracle NetSuite is phasing out its SOAP Web Services, used for over a decade to support complex integrations, in favor of REST-based APIs. The move is driven by modern security requirements, performance expectations, and analytics needs. Starting with the 2026.1 release, NetSuite SOAP endpoints will no longer be included by default, and customers must migrate to REST. The REST Web Services offer improved performance, stronger security, and greater flexibility, using standard HTTP methods and JSON-based payloads. However, they still lack feature parity with SOAP in some corner cases and have batch processing limitations. A six-step upgrade guide is available to help organizations transition from SOAP to REST, including discovery, design, implementation, testing, and optimization. The deprecation primarily affects organizations with custom or third-party SOAP integrations, which must be migrated to remain supported. NetSuite's move to REST APIs aligns with its long-term strategy of an API-first, cloud-native architecture, and businesses that adopt REST early will benefit from stronger security and improved developer experience.
