App store scraper uncovers untranslated US hits like sleepwatch: clone them for france and call it your billion-dollar pivot
A recent analysis of the US App Store has revealed a significant opportunity for app developers to create localized versions of successful iOS apps for non-English speaking markets. Using an app store scraper, researchers scanned over 80 top US apps across five categories and found that the majority lack French translations, despite having proven product-market fit, strong ratings, and millions of downloads. The analysis, which utilized the App Store Scraper & Localization Analyzer on Apify, identified apps such as Co-Star, Finch, and SleepWatch as having high demand for French translations, with over 89 requests for health tracking apps alone. By leveraging this data, developers can create localized clones of these apps, capitalizing on the growing demand for non-English language apps, with the global app market forecast to grow at 2.3x the rate of English-language markets. As of February 15, 2026, this opportunity remains largely untapped, with only 32% of top-grossing US apps supporting more than five languages, leaving a significant gap for developers to fill.
