ESP32-Powered Water Bottle Tracks Hydration, Developers Still Forget to Drink
Dehydration can significantly impact cognitive focus, fatigue, and metabolic function, making it essential to maintain proper hydration levels. To address this, a guide has been created to build a smart water bottle tracker using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology and an ESP32 microcontroller. The device connects to a water level sensor, allowing it to track liquid consumption and transmit data to a companion mobile app built with React Native. The app, compatible with both iOS and Android, utilizes the BLE-PLX library to handle scanning, connecting, and data streaming, providing real-time sync and automatic updates. This project demonstrates the potential of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) in creating personalized health interventions. By removing the need for manual logging, users are more likely to stay consistent with their hydration goals. The guide, provided by WellAlly, offers a comprehensive technical walkthrough and code repository, enabling users to track their daily intake history, set customizable reminders, and integrate their data with existing health and fitness ecosystems.
